aspice
Asynchronous spice run
General form
aspice input-file [output-file [rawfile]]
Examples
aspice circuit.cir aspice circuit.cir circuit.out aspice circuit.cir circuit.out circuit.raw
Start a SPICE-3 run of input-file in the background, and when it is finished load the resulting data. You can carry on working while the job runs; use jobs to list the jobs still running.
The arguments are positional:
- input-file
- The circuit to simulate.
- output-file
- A text file for the diagnostic output of the run (what SPICE-3 would print on the screen). This is not the rawfile.
- rawfile
- A file for the raw simulation data, which is kept so it can be loaded again later with load. It is always the third argument, so to give it you must also give output-file:
aspice circuit.cir circuit.rawwould write the diagnostic output tocircuit.raw, and keep no raw data. This argument is a Spice3f5 extension.
When the job finishes, Spice3f5 prints "Job finished:" and the title of the circuit, loads the plots, and then shows the diagnostic output of the run. Without output-file the diagnostic output is kept in a temporary file, and without rawfile the raw data is kept in a temporary file; each is removed once it has been used.
The job runs the program named by the spicepath variable in batch mode (with -b). If spicepath is not set, the SPICE_PATH environment variable is used. On Unix the default is spice3 in the program directory; on Windows it is the running Spice3f5 executable itself, so nothing needs to be set. Several jobs can run at the same time.
Finished jobs are noticed before each command is executed, and in the Qt front end also every half second while it is idle.
